Express Entry is a web-based system used to handle applications for eligible candidates who wish to become permanent residents of Canada through Canadian system. Following are the streams for economic immigration:

The Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC)- The qualified candidates are classified according to age, education, language skills, work experience and other factors.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)- This is an immigration stream for those candidates who have work experience within Canada, such as those on work permits or had entered Canada on a study permit and have now experience working in Canada.

How does it Work:

Express entry is a competitive immigration management system which ranks all the eligible candidates based on their age, education, skills, language proficiency, experience and other factors. The selected candidates and their families are offered permanent citizenship by the Canadian government.

A step-by-step guide to Express Entry process:

1.Determine your Eligibility: Interested candidates must be eligible under one of the three federal programs (FSWC, CEC, FSTC) in order to enter apply for Express Entry. The main eligibility factors are-

Age
Education
Language proficiency
Work experience in Canada
Other work experience
Criminal history and other factors

2. Get necessary documents: Before submitting your profile you need to acquire certain documents such as- language test result, education assessment, proof of funds. You need to take required IELTS English proficiency test which must be less than 2 years old. Also if you have received education outside Canada, you need to get your Educational Credentials Assessment (ECA) which will get your qualification recognized by Canadian Education System.

3. Create your Express Entry profile: Eligible candidates must create and submit an Express Entry profile. After submission of the application, eligible candidates will get an automatically generated score based on their profile.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) determines the score out of 1200 points. The higher the CRS score, the more possibility of getting the invitation to apply (ITA). Candidates can calculate their CRS score and take necessary steps to improve their score. Candidates who have job offers from Canadian employers can receive additional points.

4. Get your Invitation to Apply (ITA): The IRCC conducts Express Entry draws regularly from time to time. In these draws candidates above certain ranks will be invited to apply for Canadian Permanent Citizenship.

Express Entry Eligibility Points Calculator:

The minimum eligibility requirement for express entry is 67 out of 100. The Express Entry eligibility point is calculated through the following criteria:
Age: 18-35 and above.
Education: Minimum educational qualification must be equivalent to Higher Secondary level in Canada.
Experience: At least one year of work experience
Language proficiency: At least band 6 in IELTS equivalent to CLB 7to be eligible for application
Support: You will have more points if you have close relation or family living in Canada. You can also score points if your own family moves to Canada.
Employment Arrangement: A valid job offer from a Canadian employer will give ten points extra.
